MERATUS MOUNTAIN EXPEDITION 2015 part A
First and Second Day
1. On
Friday, August 7, 2015 Team was ready at 04.50 pm. Team are civil service and
temporary civil serice from many organization in Hulu Sungai Tengah District like
: Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency Secretariat consists of the administration, the
economic section and part of regional assets, Development Planning Agency at
Sub-National Level (Bappeda), Public Health Service (Dinas Kesehatan), Tandilang
Health Center at Sub-District Level (Puskesmas Tandilang), Department of Youth
and Sports, etc. At coordinate S2° 35’ 03.6” E115° 23’ 04.3” e or in UTM on zone 50 S
at X 320396 and Y 9714237,
with elevation of location is 15 msl (Lidar Data).
The journey started from Barabai go to Hinas
Kiri.
2. Route
of journey pass A. Yani street go to a quarter of Birayang. Team stopped in
Birayang because fill up supply or ammunition team.
3. Team
arrive in first basecamp in Hinas Kiri Village at coordinate S2° 36’
49.3” E115° 34’
07.5” or UTM 340886 9711016 at Dundung House at 6.44 pm.
4. In
the night at 8.20 pm, team get dinner together. The menu like rice with
vegetable.
5. On Saturday,
August 8, 2015 Team was ready at 07.30 am and walk together go to Juhu village.
6. Walk
about 21 minute we can see the border of indigenous forests at coordinate S2° 37’
06.5” E115° 34’
45.1” (at 7.51 am).
7. Many
children go to school at 7.53 am, from Kiyu village to Batu Kambar village.
They very diligent although the journey hardly. They are name like : Suprianto,
Ina, Ayu, etc.
8. Many
suspension bridge we can see along the journey. Like on coordinate UTM X=342810
Y=970302.
9. Many
bamboes we can see in left or right the way.
10. At
8.33 am we are met suspension bridge again at coordinat : S2 37 54.1 E115 35

11. At
9.10 am we are in other part of Taniti Ranggang mountain peak on coordinate :
X=344176 and Y=9708561.
12. At
10.27 am we are on Taniti Ranggang mountain peak at coordinate : X=344895 and
Y=9707666. There is any two side way, one way to Halau-Halau Mountai (Besar
Mountain) and other side to Juhu village. We get the Juhu side way.
13. We
are met tree (like Mahoni) at 11.45 am at coordinate : X=346034 and Y=9707078.
14. Arrive
in a big river (Datar Alai river) at 00.05 pm at coordinate : S2 39 07.7 E115
36 56.5. Team get lunch and take rest.
15. Star
again at 2.28 pm go to Aing Muhut basecamp. Many bamboes at coordinate X=346169
and Y=9706722.
16. Big
stone at coordinate X=342000 and Y=9706390
17. We meet
the river again with a width of approximately 7 meters and many big stone at
coordinate: X=347462 and Y=9706187.
18. Not
far from that river with suspension bridge, we see other river at coordinate : S2
39 27.1 E115 37 40.3.
19. Meet
small river again. a width of approximately 9 meters, location at coordinate
X=347536 and Y=9705879.
20. Unique
tree where he lived with a ride on the parent tree, the tree name is kariwaya.
21. Some
dry river because of drought at coordinate : S2 39 57.3 E115 37 38.1.
22. Big
river a width of approximately 20 meters at 4.23 pm with elevation 725 msl with
suspension bridet on Aing Muhut.
23. Team
finishing journey on second day in Aing Muhut basecamp at 4.55 pm at coordinate
: X=347110 and Y=9704543. Take rest and washing in river.
and make preparation for third day

Water Supply
Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency has many beautiful rivers. Ranging from the mountains upstream Meratus to the marsh area in manta'as. Supported by the forest is still maintained continuity as not to be disturbed by mining activity and large estates.
where the river becomes a basic requirement for both the Dayak tribe who inhabit the mountainous regions and tribes that inhabit the area banjar below.
River water supply for the people of the Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency an absolute thing that must be fulfilled so that continuity is maintained for generations. River as a legacy of the ancestors of all time should be kept sustainable.
